I can't take credit for this photo, but it was taken here in Nome a couple of years ago by a friend of mine. This gives you a little idea of what the show was like last night. Its stuff like this that makes living in the frigid north so darn cool!
Yes indeed, that is the Aurora Borealis. . . or Northern Lights. And yes, you should see this in your lifetime. Everyone should. Its truly incredible. This picture, by the way, is unedited and untouched. This was taken with a regular little digital camera without flash. The colors may look a bit more vibrant than they actually are depending on your computer. I notice the color on my computer at work is much less realistic than at home. Anyway, I hope that since I'm staying in Alaska longer than I originally thought that maybe more of my friends and family will have the chance to visit and see stuff like this. Although, in 4 years (instead of the original 2) I've only had mom, dad, and Nolan here. Hmm? I'll keep hoping. I'm so excited about Romy coming up next year though. We are meeting in Southeast Alaska and going on a ferry trip through the islands. How great will that be? Romy, did you get the shirt I sent you by the way? I'm waiting for my new camera to get here in the mail and then I'll put up some pictures with my new hair. I'll be curious to hear what you all think :) Love, love, me
