i love to knit

i really really do. who knew it was so great?! and who knows how long i will love to knit, as i have been known to be pretty crazy about something . . . until i'm not. i've recently met this awsome girl who has been teaching me. we spent several hours together sunday afternoon/evening and i learned all sorts of new things, as i do everytime with her. i have so many projects i want to do, but must learn to keep myself in check and just enjoy one thing at a time. its hard though. i've just started a baby blanket for a good friend of mine who is due to have a baby girl in july. i'm hopeful that i'll get it done by then, but its a big undertaking so i'm not sure. one surprising thing i've learned about knitting is that it takes a LOT of time and believe it or not, a LOT of money. i guess i had this vision that a homemade craft is much more economical then say going to nordstrom. well, not so. i completed my first project, a nice long, skinny scarf made of a super soft rusty colored wool/silk blend yarn. it was intended to be a gift, but then the shape ended up being more like a tubular piece of something than something resembling a scarf. i have worn it though and gotten lots of compliments and i do actually really like it. it feels more like a soft necklace. next one will be better though and i'll be able to give it away. i would estimate that it took me at least 10-15 hours and, about $60 to make that lovely handmade item though. hmm? does this make much sense?

what do you love to do that doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense?

  • I love to crochet and I'm sure that it costs about the same as knitting.
It is expensive!! But it's so much fun and you feel like you've really accomplished something when you finish a project. Especially a blanket! Good luck with it!
    Love and miss you tons!

  • I am obsessed with a video game that I just got for my DS. It's a farming, roll playing game. Unlike you and Missy, my 'hobby' results in nothing but a sore thumb and wasted time. Fortunately though, I am a lot like you, Sasha, in that I am go head-over-heals, obsessed, in love, and so on about something and then... nothing. I (and Dillon) am hoping this one goes quickly...

Good luck with your blanket. I hope you are still into knitting when Dillon and I start having babies. ;-)

    Love you!

  • I sort of feel like I'm butting in on a conversation. I haven't written for a while but just today I was telling a friend that the supposedly economical gardening hobby is more like an expensive experiment. Happy Hobbies!!

    Love,
